For Irish primary schools

School policies, kept live for your board, staff and parents

Giraft gives national schools one place to manage policy review dates, board ratification, staff circulation, website publication and inspection-ready evidence — so a small leadership team has the policy capacity of a much larger school.

Giraft's grounded generation engine is built for post-primary today; a dedicated primary framework is what we are building next. The lifecycle — review, board approval, publication, staff acknowledgement and evidence — works for primary schools from day one.

The problem

The policy work sits with the principal

In a small school the policy work often sits with the principal, even when the review, consultation, board approval and website update all need to happen at different times.

Two core areas have changed at once: boards must adopt the Child Protection Procedures (Circular 0041/2025) by their last meeting before 31 December 2026, and every school now runs a Bí Cineálta policy (Circular 0055/2024) in place of the 2013 anti-bullying procedures.

Most of this falls to a teaching principal and a board of volunteers who turn over every few years. Giraft is built to take that weight off the desk.

What Giraft gives you

One live policy register, sized for a small team

Giraft replaces policy folders, old PDFs, board-minute chasing and website uncertainty with one live policy register — what exists, what is due for review, and what needs ratification.

3. Reporting Procedures

J. O'Connor (Deputy)

“The escalation path here doesn't mention the DLP by name. Should it?”

Giraft · suggested reply

The DLP is named in §1 and referenced in the cross-section flow. Children First Act 2015 §14 establishes the role; we already point to it.

5. Online Safeguarding

M. Walsh (Parent)

“Could you spell out what 'inappropriate use' means in this section?”

Giraft · suggested reply

Reasonable ask — current wording is general. Suggest substituting a definition with concrete examples (filters, messaging apps, confidential material).

7. Staff Training

A. Murphy (Chair)

“Annual refresher is good. We should specify Garda vetting renewal too.”

Giraft · suggested reply

Vetting cycle (Garda Vetting Bureau, every 3 years) is named under §6. We can cross-link from §7 for clarity.

Giraft is in production today for Irish post-primary schools. The lifecycle transfers to primary on day one; the dedicated primary legal grounding is on the roadmap. If you run a primary school, talk to us about being part of building it.

Questions

Is the primary version available today?

The lifecycle and the legal-grounding approach are proven in post-primary. A primary-specific framework is in development. Contact us to discuss your school and timing.

Does Giraft replace the board of management's role?

No. The board remains the legal author and ratifying authority. Giraft produces the grounded draft and the approval and audit record around it.

Where do parents and inspectors see our policies?

On a public portal that always shows the current approved version, with its approval date.
